We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our dynamic team at the International School of Lyon. The SENCO will play a pivotal role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive tailored support, fostering an environment where each student can reach their full potential. This role involves close collaboration with educators, parents, and external professionals to implement effective strategies and create an inclusive learning atmosphere. Responsibilities: Teaching: Plan and deliver one-to-one or small group lessons to students aged 6-18. Develop students’ literacy, maths and study skills. Develop students’ organisational, communication and social skills. Assessment and Identification: Collaborate with teachers and parents to gather relevant information about students' learning styles and needs. Conduct assessments to identify students with special educational needs. Individual Learning Plans (ILPs): Develop, implement, and review Individual Learning Plans for students with special educational needs. Monitor and adjust ILPs in response to student progress and changing needs. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and teaching assistants to provide support and resources for the inclusion of students with special educational needs in mainstream classrooms. Collaborate with parents, offering guidance and support in understanding and meeting the needs of their children. Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents Professional Development: Provide training and professional development opportunities for teachers and teaching assistants to enhance their understanding of special educational needs and effective teaching strategies. Policies Develop and oversee the implementation of the school's Inclusion Policy. Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data related to the progress of students with special educational needs. Prepare and present reports to school leadership, parents, and relevant stakeholders. External Partnerships: Liaise with external specialists, therapists, and support services (in English and in French) to ensure a holistic approach to meeting the diverse needs of students. Stay informed about current research and best practices in the field of special education. Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of students with special educational needs within the International School of Lyon community.

Profil recherché

Coordinateur / Manager (H/F)

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field. Relevant teaching certification and experience. Knowledge of international educational systems and best practices in special education. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations pertaining to special educational needs. Ability to communicate in at least basic French with professionals or parents. Valid working papers for France.
