Details of Position We are looking for a new team member at Plaisir de l'Anglais in Cormeilles en Parisis (17 min train ride from St.Lazare, Paris)! Essential requirements to fulfill before applying: -applicant must be/ or willing to be registered as self-employed in France (auto-entrepreneur status)! We cannot offer CDD/CDI contract at the moment due to size of our company. - must have the right to live and work in France - must have a minimum level of French. About us: Before doing any teaching, the idea is to create a desire to learn English and find the reason why. I started the company in December 2015 and ever since the beginning tried to create lessons I wish I had as a child, but never did. Lessons where making a mistake is ok and it is actually encouraged, lessons where no tests are taken and where I am judged based on my overall effort. We have grown to currently teaching 115 plus students per week with a lot of investment put back into the company to give our best. Popular days are Wednesdays (9-20h) and Saturdays (9-16h), potentially Thursday (17-20h) planning currently in progress. We are closed Sundays and Mondays. All our students go through an initial evaluation session and we only accept those who are fully committed in their mind. We read a book in every single lesson as well as introduce Maths, English, general grammar and vocabulary topics through different ways which are interesting not just for students, but also for us teachers. Lesson plans are constantly being reviewed and improved. British and American materials used only. The groups are small, maximum 7 students. Levels vary from Grand Section level (5 years old) to BAC/university level, majority of the students are 5-15 years of age. Most of the plans are prepared. Higher level groups go outside of the standard French school curriculum with advanced topics focused on self-development. We are entering seventh year in business with a clientele we keep in close contact with through regular personal comments. We have 2 premises (220 m distance from each other) including a shop with English books and games (usually open Wednesday to Saturday when no lessons are scheduled). We are looking for someone who will be happy to use their personal experience and enrich our students so they can understand why they are here to learn and not because it is an obligation. All students are here based on voluntary basis (at least that is always the aim expressed during the initial evaluation process). There are no tests or exams. Students are fully aware that they must participate in class and do the requested work at home. I have high expectations for myself, my staff and our students in order to become the best versions of ourselves. Our approach is very direct and clear and this is what we are known for: -No work, no results. -Small consistent steps make a big difference. -Real life learning experience, no memorisation by heart. -Making mistakes is important because this is how we learn. -It is ok not to understand. -When you don't know something, go and find the solution. We have managed to transfer our lessons from physical classrooms online in March 2020 with immediate effect. Apart from 5 weeks in autumn 2020 we have been online in 2020/2021 due to restrictions. This past academic year (2021/2022) we were back in the classrooms. We haven't lost any lessons and students have been aware of the advantages and disadvantages of online lessons and we continue to improve based on the feedback. Duties: - to teach (in person/online) according to the following plans, mark attendance and give lesson feedback in our online system - to correct lesson and homework sheets - to get familiar with the plans, bring suggestions - occasionally create a lesson - open and close the classroom - make sure the students arrive and leave in an appropriate manner - report any concerns or observations - write term comments (they get paid extra) - to take part in occasional staff/parent meetings - to be a team player and to participate in our evolution forward Sounds good? - respond in English - send your CV to Katerina - please adjust your cover letter and please specify following: - why would you like to work specifically for Plaisir de l'Anglais - your visa/ current number of hours/ independent worker status situation/ if you live in France or not - your accent and if possible go into detail about your teaching experience with example of age groups and size of the groups you have worked with - tell us why you are special and what can you bring to the table in terms of new courses or other things we could implement in our future development
